T.R.E.E. Initiative Nursery & Model Orchard Project

To cut down on the cost of planting projects and the logistics for sourcing quality seeds and seedlings, we are establishing a seed bank and a dedicated multipurpose nursery for both native and exotic seedlings. With this nursery, we can keep seeds and produce enough seedlings for our collaborative tree planting projects as well as to support rural farmers as part of our agroforestry advocacy.

A model demonstration orchard for exhibition and tour will also be part of this project which will be sited on 100 acres of land.

This project is open for sponsors, partners and brands for funding.

Centre for Apiculture Research & Development

To train, equip and empower more women and young farmers annually in the art of modern beekeeping and apiculture practices, we are building a compact model training and research facility with a dedicated workshop, repository and bees sanctuary.

There are rarely facilities like this on the African continent and we are resolute on establishing one here in Nigeria.

The focus is to promote Apiculture and all ancillary activities as a climate change adaptation strategy for farmers in rural agrarian and forest communities. This facility will be accessible and affordable for all those interested in the entire complex of what is referred to as modern beekeeping.

This project is open to sponsors, partners and brands for funding.

Highway Tree Planting Project

Across the country, we have observed that majority of the intercity and interstate highway medians and setbacks in some instances are not properly landscaped and maintained.

Our view is to address this by advocating and practically implementing highway tree planting to change the narrative and make travelling on our highways a unique experience for all. We know planting trees to replace bushes and invasive weeds on our highways will add to highway aesthetics, absorb carbon emitted by vehicles on these roads. and make peace with nature.

We have identified a few of these highways across the country and will be willing to collaborate with the Federal Ministry of Works and the State Works Ministries and relevant sub-national Agencies to implement this project with the support of sponsors and corporate brands.

School Orchard Project

With this project, we intend to gradually reintroduce school gardens and farms which most primary and secondary schools had a few decades ago. These school farms have been long abandoned and the lands have been dormant in some areas while in other areas these lands have been converted to other uses especially buildings. So, students no longer have practical access to nature and how trees and crops grow. To mitigate this trend, T.R.E.E. Initiative decided to focus on innovatively reintroducing the school farm concept via the School Orchard Project.
This we know will open up avenues to educate and co-opt students into the climate adaptation, land restoration, and food security advocacy while assisting schools with dormant spaces grow some of their food and fruits using the sustainable Agroforestry model.
With these Orchards, Schools can teach and allow students access in their formative years to tree planting and management as well as practical farming tips. These Orchards at maturity will also provide daily nutritional supplements from fresh fruits and other produce to students especially those in boarding schools.
We are targeting a total of 72 schools across Nigeria in the first phase.
